Cell Therapy Catapult
In October 2010 it was announced that over £200m would be invested by the UK government in a network of elite technology and innovation centres. The work was administered by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) who were tasked with delivering these centres, now known as Catapults. The TSB ultimately selected London as the preferred location for their Cell Therapy Catapult and wanted to identify premises at which to base it. They wanted to secure accommodation that was capable of delivery within a tight timescale and which maximised the potential of the centre to work alongside business and the research base.
We used our experience of securing property for R&D businesses to identify a shortlist of potential locations which were capable of delivering the right type of space in places that would best fit the project brief. We negotiated commercial terms for the selected shortlist and met with senior personnel at the research institutions associated with each in order to present the delivery team with a clear choice of potential locations for the Catapult.
The incoming leadership team for the newly formed Catapult were able to select their preferred location which enabled the Catapult to become operational within a matter of weeks and to secure high quality accommodation into the future. In addition we have advised the Technology Strategy Board on the optimum location for the Transport Systems Catapult.
